Every now and then I get nostalgic for those wild ‘90s gigs, classic starlets, studs, and all the big hair of the era.

My hair was never that big – I kept it pretty short. But the same can’t be said for everyone else’s. As these thoughts were running around while watering my cactuses today (cacti?) … one film in particular came to mind.

Let’s take it back – waaay back – to 1995 when yours truly dove headfirst into one of my career-favorite all-girl scenes, in a little oddball romp called The Butt Detective. The cheekiness of my scene was literally front and center – pun absolutely intended. Here’s how it starts:

In general, the set was a fun place to be. Picture this: We’re barely waiting in the wings for five minutes before the first shot, when some dorky “private eye” (sorry, Mike Horner – you know I love you) bursts in, Polaroid camera in hand, looking for a mystery woman. His only clue? That she has a “spectacular backside”. Comedy gold, if you ask me. Kinda/sorta.

But I don’t want to be too harsh. Sometimes adult movies forget to be fun or take themselves too seriously. Not this one. It’s pure giggly silliness – with a soundtrack that’s honestly still stuck in my head. And I don’t always remember the finer details. Your girl was a big fan of herbal intoxicants back then.

I played a “Synchronous Swimmer” – or something. And had the delight of sharing my scene with Juli Ashton and Nicole Lace. Looking back, it’s definitely one of my all time girls-only favorites. Tammi Ann was hanging around too, but over the 5 movies we were both in together we never shared the same scene. What a missed opportunity, I’ve always thought.

Juli Ashton was always so friendly, professional and welcoming on-set. There’s a reason she made my favorite co-stars list a couple of years ago. I hope she’s happy, healthy, wealthy and wise. It was always a a pleasure working with her.

Nicole Lace went on to marry well-known porn producer, Patrick Collins (godspeed). Not only did I work for Patrick as an office assistant for a while – I almost became their baby’s nanny after I retired from adult films. I hadn’t thought about that in a very long time – but it’s true.

If you ever come across The Butt Detective in some dusty VHS bin, just remember: sometimes the best roles aren’t about screen time – or boy/girl pairing. They’re sometimes about three women trying to make their audience laugh with a perfectly timed pratfall or a killer butt.

I’m making a viewing sound harder than it is though. It’s 2025 for crying out loud.
